Monstera Care Guide

Light

  • Provide very bright exposure, but avoid full sun, especially for outdoor plants.

  • For indoor cultivation, place the plant in an area that receives bright indirect light.

Watering

  • Outdoors, water the plant just enough to keep the soil slightly moist, as it is a moderately greedy plant.

  • Indoors, water the plant when the soil has slightly dried out, typically after one or two weeks.

Soil & Mix

  • For indoor potted plants, use a well-draining, peat-based soil mix, such as one made with perlite and pieces of bark.

  • For outdoor cultivation, plant in a rich and loose soil, ideally using garden soil and compost in equal parts.

Temperature

  • Maintain indoor temperatures between 20–30 °C (68–86 °F) for optimal growth.

  • Protect the plant from frost, as it is killed by freezing temperatures and cannot withstand -1 °C (30 °F) for more than a few hours.

  • Maintain a steady minimum temperature of at least 13–15 °C (55–59 °F) for continuous growth, as growth ceases below 10 °C (50 °F).
